Intention to the method. Attention in the moment.

Every parent wants their child to succeed—at school, in college, and in life. But what does “success” mean, and what actually works to get there?

Emotionally healthy kids grow up to feel more satisfied with their lives—which at Prologue, we believe is the most important outcome of all.

Over the past two decades, a critical finding has emerged in developmental science: The most important determinant of positive life outcomes is a healthy nervous system. Kids go on to do better in every area—intellectual, emotional, relational, and professional—when they have a solid psychological foundation, with tools for understanding their feelings and making conscious choices.

Tutoring at Prologue finds the sweet spot in the overlap between intellectual rigor and emotional health. We use a process of inquiry, exploration, and discovery that connects students with their authentic selves, helps them locate their sources of motivation, and encourages a sense of play as they approach the learning in front of them.

How we orient to the session.

Whatever the material, we create a container for deeper learning. Here’s where we place our focus:

Expand learning beyond content

to include context, depth of understanding, and relevance—i.e., how the content came to be and how it connects with the student.

Inspire and empower students

to discover their interests, curiosity, and preferences as learners so that they can ultimately direct their own growth.

Deepen awareness of the learning process

to include exploration of strategies and inquiry into what works for each student’s unique neurology and personality.

Make the process enlivening,

playful, and even fun so that sessions are enjoyable and learning is associated with pleasure, wonder, and vitality.

If you’re interested in working together, welcome.
